The Rio Grande Valley summer science internship

The Rio Grande Valley Summer Science Internship program aims to provide high school rising sophomores and juniors with the opportunity to obtain hands-on experiences in active university-based research projects and makes one-on-one career mentoring achievable by ensuring that students are matched with a science faculty member with whom they share similar interests.

As part of the program, students work for 6 weeks with their mentor and are required to complete 20 hours of science related work per week. The program culminates with each student presenting his/her work to faculty, friends, family, and the community at large.

Partnering institutions of the RGV SSI program include The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley; The University of Texas School of Public Health,, Health Science Center at Houston Brownsville Regional Campus;  The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, and The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine.
